How to get there

Airplane: To Florence Amerigo Vespucci airport, by shuttle bus VOLA IN BUS to the station of Santa Maria Novella.

Car: To the station car park of Santa Maria Novella.

Train: To the station of Santa Maria Novella.

Train: No direct bus service from the station, only from nearby Via della Scala (11,36,37) and Via Rucellai (B)

Footpath: From the station about 15 minutes.

Permits: In the Museum it is not permitted to take photos or shoot videos. In special cases, authorisation may be granted by the management. For permission for professional photos or videos, apply to the Authorisation Office.

Lifts available off the courtyard.

PALAZZO PITTI
From the square, steep smooth slope up to entrance. Assistance necessary for manual wheelchair users. No steps to enter the internal courtyard of the building in which the lifts are located (to the left of the staircase). Straightforward route to the portico on the right – in which the ticket office is located (access to the portico via a step of about 9cm and to enter the ticket office there is a bump about 1cm high and one of about 2cm at the exit). In the right hand wing of the building are the Palatina gallery and the Royal appartments (first floor) – the Modern Art gallery – the Costume gallery (second floor) and the Historical Archives (third floor), accessible via two lifts (90cm doors) which are found on either side of the courtyard. The left hand wing of the Palazzo houses two further galleries . The Silver museum and the Porcelain museum. In the internal courtyard, on the right after the cafe , is a disabled toilet. For the key, ask either at the entrance to the Boboli gardens, at the central porter's desk or at the bookshop.

PALATINA GALLERY
Access is from the right hand wing via two lifts, opposite each other, accessed from the courtyard, from a room on the left of the staircase. The width of the lift doors is about 90cm. Important: please ask a member of staff before taking the lift, as the door communicating with the gallery has to be unlocked.
The Palatina gallery is accessible in all directions. There are a few doors, as most of the rooms communicate directly, without barriers of any kind. The only possible problem may be some of the glass doors, which can be rather heavy to push and may need some assistance to opened.
At the end of the Palatina gallery we access the Royal Appartments, fully accessible.

On request, the Office provides educational assistance to schools in the Province of Florence, Prato and Pistoia: it conducts specific programmes, arranges workshops and itineraries in the Museums of the Special Superintendency for the State Museums of Florence.
Cost: workshops free of charge; Museum lessons, € 3.00 per student.

Biblioteca

The Nuova Biblioteca Palatina is beside the Education office in the Andito degli Angiolini (main staircase, upper mezzanine floor). 
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday: 10-13.

Shop

In the courtyard of the Pitti Palace and at the entrance to the Gallery. 
Guides to the collections in various languages are available, besides other art publications and objects inspired by works in the Palace.

Cloakroom

There is one cloakroom for all the museums, off the courtyard, next to the lift. 
Visitors must leave umbrellas, large backpacks and bags. There is no charge. 
School backpacks must be left in the cloakroom.

Café

There is a café in the courtyard of the Pitti Palace.
