Disabled persons
Lifts at entrance and exit.
UFFIZI GALLERY
In via della Ninna at the ramp that leads up to the Uffizi arcade there is a small step on the pavement (3-4cm). Assistance is recommended for ascending the ramp in a wheelchair. Ramp at entrance no1, for advance bookings, groups and individuals. Step at entrance no.2 for advance ticket sales. A larger lift can be found at the side of the Buontalenti Gallery; it goes to Room 38 of the Gallery. Please ask a member of staff to use the lift. This lift is also available for the elderly who are unable to use the steps at the exit, but are limited to small groups of 3-5 people. Larger groups will have to come down either on foot or using the two lifts at the entrance, misuse of which is monitored. In order to use the lifts it is always advisable to check with staff on arrival at the gallery. It is also possible to ask staff at the entrance for a wheelchair of a size suitable for the lift, should that of the visitor prove too large (there are three available at the museum).
The disabled toilet is found in the third corridor, about halfway along. Please ask gallery staff for the key.
EXTERNAL AREA
The portico on the left hand side can be followed right down to the Arno. The portico is accessible from the side of the ticket and booking office and the Accademia dei Georgofili. At the end of the arcade there are two steps down to the square (the pavement on this side of the arcade is better). Access to café and terrace: a stairlift allows access up the stairs.
